Guest spot: Robert Plant
Robert Plant has recorded a guest vocal track for Primal Scream’s upcoming album, due out next year. The Led Zeppelin frontman says: “I sang a bit on the Primals’ stuff because I think their references on looking back on the glorious past, and the way they bring them into the contemporary world, are fantastic.” While former bandmate Jimmy Page has been remastering Zep’s catalogue, Plant says he’s looking for new musical outlets. “What can I be as a singer that doesn’t play much?” he asks. “That’s how I see everything: what can I be a part of that’s exciting? If anybody’s got any ideas, I’m always up for it.” [Mojo]
Graveyard bassist Rickard Edlund has been sidelined while he deals with addiction issues. The band report: “Sometimes you have to make decisions that are neither simple or easy to make. Graveyard have, after a time filled with a search for solutions, been forced to make such a decision. Rikard, to get the proper help, will have to take a break from touring with the band. It is agreed that the show will go on, and the band will tour with a stand-in bass player.” The Swedish psychedelic doom-rock outfit just released their third album, Lights Out, and premiered their Endless Night video with Classic Rock.
Mark Tremonti says he’ll work round Van Halen‘s future plans in order to keep Wolfgang Van Halen in his solo band. The Alter Bridge frontman hired Wolfgang at short notice to join Tremonti, and the pair have enjoyed the partnership so much they both want it to continue. Tremonti says: “Van Halen will always be his priority whenever they’re touring. When they’re not, he’ll be with us. He’ll write and play on the records. If he’s on tour with Van Halen we’ll find somebody that he’s comfortable with filling in.” [Van Halen News Desk]
Guns n’Roses have been honoured in Las Vegas with a street named after one of the band’s classic tracks. Paradise Road is now called Paradise City Road after the current lineup except Axl Rose attended a ceremony yesterday. GnR are about to commence a 12-date residency in the city’s Hard Rock Hotel.
Joe Satriani will release a new solo album in May next year, ahead of a UK tour the following month. He’s also gearing up to unveil a career-retrospective box set next spring. His June 2013 tour dates:

Brian May and long-time collaborator Kelly Ellis will release a charity single on November 5. It’s a new interpretation of the Oscar-winning song Born Free, taken from the 1966 film. Its release will support the Born Free Foundation, which seeks to protect endangered species. May and Ellis commence an 11-date UK tour next week.
White Wizzard‘s next album will be called The Devil’s Cut and it’s due for release early next year. Mainman Jon Leon says the eight songs will “tear your head off.” He adds: “Anybody that was whining about the lack of more shreddy leads on the Flying Tigers album better get ready to get an injection of some serious shit.”
